A new shop in Phnom Penh starts with an empty regulars list. A paper card, or a loyalty app that only your shop uses, starts empty too. The guest has to learn a new card on the day they are meeting you for the first time.
A loyalty app with many shops is a better start for the store and for the customer. The customer already has one app on their phone. The shop issues points from its own sale and shows up beside other Point hub stores, instead of asking people to install something they will open once.
TL;DR. Point hub Loyalty is one free app for customers. They earn points on purchases at partner shops that run Point hub POS, and they exchange those points for rewards at those shops. A new cafe, mart, salon, or gym joins that habit from day one. When you open a second location, the same customer account follows you. Shop setup is on why shops need a loyalty program. Customers download at the loyalty page.
Why is a private stamp card a hard start?
A shop that opened last month has no crowd yet. The loyalty tool has to work on the third visit, when the guest is deciding whether this counter becomes a habit.
A card that exists only in your drawer asks for three things at once: carry this, remember us, and come back before the card is lost. Most people in Phnom Penh already have a phone in their hand at the till. They do not want a new card for every cafe, salon, and mart on the same street.
A private app has the same cold start. You pay to be installed, then you still have to teach the guest why this icon matters. An app they already opened at another Point hub shop skips that lesson.
What does “many shops” mean here?
It means two things, and a new owner should keep them separate.
Other businesses on the same customer app. Restaurants, cafes, gyms, salons, and retail shops in Cambodia that run Point hub POS can issue points. Customers collect reward points on everyday purchases at those partner shops, keep memberships in one place, and exchange points for rewards there. Every claim is time-stamped on the merchant side, so your shop sees its own redemptions. People can browse partners in the app, or simply ask “Do you use Point hub?”
Your own second store. Point hub also supports multiple stores and devices for one business. A mart can start with one counter and add a second location on the same product. Retail detail is on POS for retail. The customer does not get a new card because you opened a new door.
Your till still issues points from your sales. You choose the reward. Joining the app means the guest keeps that reward in the same account they already use at other Point hub shops.
Why does this help a shop that is just starting?
The first month is when staff are still learning the menu. Loyalty has to be one extra sentence, not a second system.
Four practical gains:
- The guest already understands the motion. “I’ll add this to your points” works on day one if they have used the app at another shop. A cafe version of that sentence is in how a Phnom Penh cafe gets regulars without a paper stamp card.
- You can be found beside shops they already trust. Browsing partners is a quieter introduction than a new logo on a flyer. You still have to earn the second visit with the product and the greeting.
- The record survives a new phone. Points stay with the customer’s account in the cloud. A lost handset does not wipe the progress that was bringing them back to you.
- A second branch does not reset the relationship. The same POS family covers checkout at more than one store. The regular who knows your first counter can earn at the second without a fresh signup at the door.
You still set a reward you can afford. A free house drink, a service add-on, or a small retail gift after a set number of paid visits. Leave that rule in place for a month. A public half-price offer for anyone who downloads an app teaches people to wait for the deal.
Why does this help the customer?
Customers in Phnom Penh already split the week across several counters: coffee before work, a salon on Saturday, a gym membership, a mart on the way home. A separate card for each one lives in a bag they do not have at the till.
One app matches that week.
- One install. The Point hub Loyalty app is free on iPhone and Android. The shop runs POS. The customer runs Loyalty. They are different apps on purpose.
- Points from ordinary purchases. The next drink, haircut, or basket can move a reward closer. Saving for a larger gift is allowed. Redeeming when they have enough is allowed.
- Rewards at partner shops. They exchange points for rewards at shops on Point hub, and the shop records the claim.
- Memberships in the same place. A gym or a shop can check someone in with a QR code instead of a plastic card that gets shared or left at home.
- A balance that follows the person. Change phones, and the points are still on the account.
The customer benefit is less friction. They came for the drink. The app should make the return visit obvious, and then get out of the way.
How do you start in the first week?
Start with the counter you already have. You do not need a second location to use a multi-shop app.
Day 1. Pick one reward and the number of paid visits required. Turn points on for those sales in Point hub. Put the rule on a small sign.
The first rush. Say one line to each guest: “I can add this to your points. The app is free, and it works at other Point hub shops too.” If they already have it, add the sale and stop talking. If they say no, serve them and stop.
End of the week. Count new accounts, rewards you gave, and whether any name came back. You should see claims on your side, with a time stamp, so a redemption is a record.
When you open store two. Use the same Point hub business, the same reward rule, and the same customer app. Tell regulars the new door accepts the points they already earned with you. Train the new counter on the same sentence before the first weekend.
Do this before you print a stack of cards with the new address on them. Cards do not move with the guest. The account does.
What the owner still decides
The app brings the habit and the phone. You still decide who the reward is for. A neighbor who can come back this week is the person to enroll. A one-time visitor can hear the sentence once.
You also decide the cost. Points on your sales are your thank-you. Read the week’s redemptions before you widen the gift. If the reward is eating the sale, shrink the gift or raise the number of visits. The app will not make that call for you.
And keep loyalty on the POS you already use. A second points vendor is a second login at the exact minute the queue is longest. Point hub includes loyalty with the till. Plans are a free trial, then Starter $99, Standard $159, or Premium $259 per year. See pricing and the product page for loyalty.
Start with ten guests tomorrow
Pick the reward, issue points on those ten sales, and use the sentence about the app they may already have. That is why a loyalty app with many shops is a good start: the customer keeps one account, and your new store has a place in it from the first paid visit.
